MABL/MSBL Player of the Week: Drew Durossette, Bay Area MSBL

Submitted by Jim Frenn, Bay Area League President

In a very rare occurrence for our league, on July 28th at Albert Park, Drew Durossette of the 35+ Athletics pitched a no-hitter against the 35+ Gothams.  The A’s win was a 1-0 gem in nine innings.  (It was not possible to obtain a picture of Drew but were able to supply you with a team picture for your intro.)

It could have been a perfect game if not for an error and a walk.  The plays that prevented a perfect game happened in the fourth inning when the first baseman got handcuffed on a low throw from shortstop that should have been a put-out.  It was scored an error. The second base runner was a walk in the sixth.

The Gothams’ pitcher allowed only one run, scattering seven hits.  Drew had 11 strikeouts to go along with the no-hitter.

Drew has thrown 84 innings and accumulated 83 strikeouts, 26 walks, and sports a 5-4 record with an impressive 2.36 ERA.  The Athletics stand in the middle of the pack with a 6-6 record but are riding a four-game winning streak.  Congratulations Drew!
