Welcome Charleston Men’s Adult Baseball League!

By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications

The Charleston Baseball League has been in existence in South Carolina since 1992 in various forms but has decided to become part of the MSBL family in 2024!  New league president Rob Burke is the man in charge.

“MSBL is a solid and proven organization that represents all of the best that men’s adult baseball has to offer,” stated Burke.  “I want to thank Steve and Brian Sigler for all of their help in bringing us aboard.”

The league began on March 3rd and will continue through July, with a Fall Season in place from September through November.  The Charleston MABL consists of eight teams, evenly split between 25+ and 45+ divisions.

Many of their games are played on the beautiful Lucy Beckham High School field.

The 54-year-old Burke has been playing in MSBL national tournaments since 2016 but this is his first foray into league leadership.

“I worked closely with Steve Sigler to establish our league with MSBL and our members agreed that it was not only a good move but that I would be the right guy to take charge.”

I asked Rob if he has plans to run everything himself or if he is recruiting a board to help out.

“My plan is to do some re-organizing this fall.  Right now, I emphasize getting us off and running and fine-tuning things in the not-too-distant future.

I believe that men’s adult baseball will grow exponentially in this area over the coming years due to demographic trends.  We’ll be ready for them.”
