Salt Lake Bees 12, Mustangs Baseball Club 0

In our first year competing in the 60+ Division of the Kickoff Classic, the Salt Lake Bees dominated the competition, outscoring opponents 99 to 6 in five games.   Our pitching, hitting, and fielding was phenomenal all weekend.  I think playing over the line during the nice winter weekends in Salt Lake really helped prepare us.

Danny Pawelek pitched the championship game for us, throwing a 5-hit gem, striking out four, and only walking two in seven innings against a very good Mustangs team. Brady Field went 3-4, including the walk-off (12th run) in the seventh.  The Bees scored five runs in the fifth to break the game open. Randy Miles, Phil Young, and Brett Blackburn contributed with two hits each.

For the tourney, we had several players who were outstanding:  Brady Field 10-17, Bill Steele 9-17, Phil Young 9-13, Brett Blackburn 10-15, Brent Moyes 8-14, while Dave Mccuistion notched 13 RBI’s.   We enjoyed great pitching from Neil Warner, Danny Pawelek, Brady Field, James Bittner, and Dave Mccuistion.
