‘Utah Rockies Win Back-to-Back World Series Titles’
Submitted by Mike Moore, Rockies’ manager
Going undefeated in 2022 we had to play up in the ex-pro division. The Rockies had a great week of baseball going 5-1 in pool play, with their only loss to the Sacramento Redbirds in the ninth inning with a walk-off hit. We are a group of guys that for the most part have played together since 2013. A few of us have known and played with each other since Little League.
Most of us stay at a house together and you could only imagine the antics that go on during the week. This is what keeps us such a close-knit family. 10 of us attended game four of that other World Series going on at Chase Field. We always keep a short roster to give everyone a fair share of playing time. This year we had 13 total players with two of them being pitchers only.
We faced off against the Redbirds for the Championship. We started the game with one run in the top of the first. The game was a pitchers’ duel between the Rockies’ Dylan DeWaters and Redbirds’ Lou Fisher. The Redbirds got their first run in the fifth. We scored three runs in the top of the seventh on five hits. They scored one in each of the seventh and eighth innings and we scored one in the ninth. The 5-3 final capped DeWaters’ second complete game of the week.
