‘A’s Go Back-to-Back for National Title’
Submitted by Jim Velaer, A’s manager
Winning the MSBL World Series Father-Son championship in the Central division the prior year, and moving to the National division, we knew that we had our work cut out for us. With only making three errors for the tournament and very good pitching from both fathers and sons, we ended up going 6-0 and winning back-to-back championships for the second time.
We had great chemistry on the team this year, as the guys from Sacramento and Canada were critical in winning the championship. Once again, we had several players that were worthy of the MVP but one person in my mind who especially stood out was Brayden Jensen both on the pitcher’s mound and at the plate, as well as holding down second base flawlessly. I have known Brayden since he was a little boy and to play ball with him and coach him was my pleasure!
In closing, I would like to give a special thanks to Mike Leonhart for doing a lot of the administration work that is involved in putting a team together, and to all of the other players who took time away from their jobs and their families to make this week a special one. We will now look forward to going back to the desert to defend our championship and go for a three-peat…….. GO A’s!
