Benbrook Cubs 10, Paladin 3
Submitted by Robert Fredette, Cubs manager
The Benbrook Raynham Baseball Team Cubs are a ‘Tale of Two Cities’… Because neither team had enough players to sustain a week of competition, a decision was made to merge, thus the team name was established. The boys from Boston and those from Dallas, with added help from guys from Florida, Pennsylvania, Canada and Puerto Rico formed what would be a formidable foe to all who faced us.
The team found itself undefeated after pool play and primed for the playoffs.
The boys defeated the Tucson Toros 3-0 in game one and game two found the Cubs defeating the Inland Angels 17-1 to advance to the championship game.
In the championship game we faced a very good Paladin team. After the dust had settled the Cubbies were the champions, 10-3. It was a total team effort that had significant contributions from each player.
