Mid-Iowa Baseball League Plays Special Game at ‘Field of Dreams’ Movie Location on July 2nd

The Mid-Iowa Baseball League celebrated Independence Day weekend with a night game on Thursday, July 2 at the ‘Field of Dreams’ movie location in Dyersville, Iowa.
The game was originally planned for the new stadium being built for the Major League Baseball game later this summer featuring the Cardinals and White Sox, however the stadium remains under construction. Our fallback plan turned out much more meaningful by playing a game on the actual Field of Dreams from the movie.
An open-age Des Moines Bruins team defeated a team made up of players from Cedar Rapids and Omaha, 11-2.
On a personal level, I grew up 20 miles from the Field of Dreams and it was the first time I ever played there. It was a very special night for all of us. I believe this perfectly epitomizes why we do what we do as an MSBL member.
Added Mid-Iowa League President and MSBL Lifetime Achievement Award recipient John Linden, “It certainly was a dream come true. Great fun and certainly meaningful to play there this year! And, I also had the thrill of a Father/Son night on the field together.”
