2026 MSBL National Hall of Fame Inductee: David Pratt, League President, Red River Adult Baseball League

By Steve LaMontia-Carlentini, MSBL Director of Communications

Logo of the red river adult baseball league featuring a stylized black and white baseball player silhouette with red and black text.David Pratt is a baseball enthusiast, to say the least.  He is an ex-collegiate shortstop, still plays in an 18-over division at the age of 50, and has been the League President of the Red River Adult Baseball League, located in and around Shreveport, Louisiana, for the past 18 years.  His MSBL career began in 2002 in his current league, and he never looked back.

David is also a 2015 inductee into the MSBL Honor Roll and had his ultra-successful league profiled on the MSBL website back in 2024.  Off the field, he is a professional construction project manager, which explains why his league runs like freshly greased ball bearings.

For his attention to detail and all things baseball in his six-team league in Louisiana, MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler has inducted David into the 2026 class of the MSBL National Hall of Fame.

“Wow,” exclaimed David.  “I couldn’t believe it when I got the news. I had always seen the announcements of new members being inducted into the MSBL Hall of Fame and thought it was such a great honor for those who had contributed so much to their leagues. I never thought what I did would measure up to being held in the same regard as those guys.

I love this league. I do the best I can each year to give the players the best experience possible. I know what playing baseball still means to me, and I want to be able to provide it for any other player that feels the same way. Being recognized with this honor serves as validation that I was doing a good job on behalf of our league, and that’s all I ever set out to do. I am very thankful for this honor.”

Working with David for a dozen years, I have found that he is a very articulate guy, and to that end, I saw no reason to attempt to alter his feelings or edit his comments as he addressed the various questions we asked him.

Please find below David’s responses to our questions, as a Q&A format seemed most effective in this case.

Congratulations and welcome to this exclusive club, David!

Name: David Pratt

Age: 50

Where do you live?  Shreveport, Louisiana

What do you do for a living?  I am a construction project manager at Brown Builders, Inc.

When did you begin playing for MSBL and where?  I began playing in the Shreveport-Bossier MSBL in 2002 at the age of 26. I became president of the league in 2009. I’m currently in my 18th season as president.

Which league are you currently affiliated with?  I am still affiliated with the same league, but its name was changed in 2009 to the Red River Adult Baseball League.

What age division do you play in and for which team in the league?  I play in the 18+ division for the Elysian Fields Rangers.

What position(s) do you play?  I played shortstop throughout college and for much of my MSBL career, but I switched to second base several years ago when my arm started giving me trouble.

Family details?  My wife, Keeley, and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this year. We have three awesome daughters: Addison, Morgan, and Brynnan. The older two are in college, and the youngest is starting high school this year.

Describe your baseball resume, please: (high school, college, pro?)  I was an all-district performer at Alief Hastings High School (1990-94) in Houston, Texas, growing up. I played college ball at Texas Christian University (TCU) (95-96), Alvin Community College (97), and Centenary College of Louisiana (98-99). I was a switch-hitting middle infielder who was known mostly for my defensive ability at shortstop.

What is your MSBL World Series, Fall Classic, or other MSBL tournament experience and achievements?  I have played in several MSBL regional tournaments, including the Texas Cup (Houston & Dallas), the Bama Bash (Birmingham), the Rumble on the Red (Shreveport), and others.

I have not been able to attend any national tournaments yet due to work and family obligations during those times of the year. They are on my bucket list, though.

With whom do you play in tournaments, and what age division are you in?  I have not been to a tournament in some time, but all the tournaments I attended in the past were on teams created from our local league. I have played in 18+ and 25+ divisions.

What is the highlight of your MSBL league or tournament play?  Winning the Texas Cup in Houston was my favorite tournament highlight. My league team has won 13 titles since 2001, including 9 of the last 10.

Are there any individuals you would like to thank for supporting your baseball career?  I’d like to thank my mom and dad for getting me started in baseball and supporting my talents. I’d like to thank my wife and family for allowing me to spend my weekends playing in the RRABL for almost 25 years now.

I appreciate all of my coaches and teammates over the years. The baseball community is a wonderful group to be associated with. I also want to thank the members of our Red River Adult Baseball League for their loyalty and commitment to our organization over the many years. I very much appreciate the trust they put in me to operate the RRABL on their behalf.

Are there any personal comments you would like to share or any MSBL thoughts?  I have enjoyed every moment of my association with the MSBL. Baseball has been, and always will be, a big part of who I am. I am so grateful to Steve (Sigler) and everyone else behind the scenes for founding and organizing the Men’s Senior Baseball League. I don’t know what I would have done without it. Thank you for all that you do to make it possible for us to play the game we all love.
