2026 MSBL National Hall of Fame Inductee: Bob Donaldson, Antelope Valley Men’s Adult Baseball League

Bob Donaldson is a 71-year-old baseball junkie. He plays in the Antelope Valley Men’s Adult Baseball League, established in 1990. In fact, he enjoys the league so much that he became league president!
“I began playing in the league in 1993 and haven’t stopped since,” explained Donaldson. “I mainly play second base but fill in wherever needed. We are an 18-over league, so I’m giving up a few years. I just go where I’m told!”
Bob resides in Lancaster, California, and is a retired roofer. He also has assembled quite a family when not playing a kid’s game or running an adult baseball league.
“I am proud of my four children, Eric, Tina, Sunshine, and John, and we all enjoy our seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.”
What about your baseball resume?
“I have been playing some sort of organized ball since I was seven years old. I took the usual route of Little League and Senior Little League, up through Legion ball, and then dabbled with some adult rec leagues that included a taste of semi-pro.
My very good friend, Rick McGaughey, introduced me to adult baseball, and it has become a huge part of my life.”
What is your history of playing in the MSBL World Series?
“My first World Series was in 1995. I missed a few years early on, but I haven’t missed since 2001. I currently play for Bob Sherwin’s 70-over LA Athletics. My highlight over all these years would have to be 2010, when I won the MVP Award while playing with the 55+ Oregon Donors.
I have also played for multiple MSBL teams in Las Vegas, the Desert Classic in Palm Springs, and assorted tournaments in San Diego. Just give me a call!”
How would you best sum up your baseball career and what does this award mean to you?
“I look at myself as just a guy who still loves playing the game of baseball. I would have never imagined my baseball career would turn out like this. I’ve been very blessed.
I am quite overwhelmed to have received this award. Many thanks to Steve Sigler and his staff for having the foresight to dream up the idea of a national-oriented Adult Baseball league. You’ve created a way to stay connected to a kid’s game. Thank you!
