Boston Wolfpack 6, Yonder Travelers 1

2025 World Series logo, Tempe, Arizona.The Boston Wolfpack won the 55+ National division of the 2025 MSBL World Series with a victory over the Yonder Travelers, 6-1.  The Pack was led by MVP Urbano Leal, who pitched 7 2/3 innings, giving up one run and seven hits while striking out seven.

Boston went 5-1 in pool play, splitting their two games with Yonder, so it was fitting to meet again in the finals in a re-match of last year’s championship won by the Travelers.  The Pack had strong pitching performances by Mike SmithMike NotoEdgardo MercadoJose Delgado, and Marco Barragan, while offensive standouts included Efrain NievesAhmed RodriguezRichie Sexton, and Smith and Delgado.

In the Final, the Pack took a 2-0 lead in the second on a single by Mark Whiten, followed by a triple by Sexton while Leal got the first 11 Travelers down before yielding a walk.

Boston added four more in the sixth on three straight singles by Mickey BordonKennon McCaa, and Eddie Fuller, followed by a clutch 2-out double by Nieves, who batted over .600 for the tournament, and a base hit by Smith.

Yonder rallied in the seventh on three hits and a walk, plating a run, but the Wolfpack got an inning-ending double play.  Steve Frellick led the Travelers with three hits, and Scott Marabell crushed a long double.
