2023 MSBL World Series Hall of Fame Inductee: Stuart Juarez, Long Island MSBL
By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications
Stuart Juarez is 60 years old and resides in East Meadow, New York. He plays his summer ball in the Long Island MSBL, which is the longest-tenured MSBL league in the country, and amazingly plays down to the 35-over division as a third baseman, first baseman, and designated hitter on the Long Island Panthers.
As impressive as that is, he has been attending the MSBL World Series for 25 years, many on the same team as his son, Stuart, Jr., as they have shared a dugout for 20 of those 25 years.
MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler has cited Stuart for his passion for playing in Arizona by naming him to the 2023 class of the MSBL World Series Hall of Fame.
“It’s a great privilege to be a member of the World Series Hall of Fame. It is a real honor,” explained Stuart. “I want to thank both Steve and Brian (Sigler) and everyone who puts this great World Series tournament together.”
Stuart began his Long Island MSBL career back in 1990 and he and his son are playing on the Panthers together, as well as World Series teammates.
“I have many great memories but the biggest highlight has been developing a baseball family over the years and of course the past 20 years of being able to play alongside my son.”
Stuart’s MSBL World Series career isn’t simply one of attending in Arizona, eating burritos and pasta, and enjoying an escape from New York for a week or so. He has a winner’s pedigree.
“We won in 2008 in the 18-over division, in 2013 in the 45s, and in 2020 in the 50-over division. We have also been in the championship game six other times but came up short. We go there hoping to do well.”
Stuart has shared his World Series playing time with the Long Island Mariners and the Long Island Panthers. In his 25 years of playing in the World Series, he has progressed through the 18+, 25+, 35+, 40+, 45+, and 50+ divisions. There is always another division waiting for you as age and experience creep up.
“In closing, I want to thank all of you in my Panthers family and of course Steve Sigler and Brian for creating somewhere for us all to keep playing this great game. I view this as an achievement not just for me but for my Panthers teammates and of course my family. Thank you!
