Chicago North TSP Fire  9, MBI 7

Submitted by Dan Gooris, manager

The Chicago Fire started this year’s World Series without three of its key infielders from last year but had several players step up to fill the void. Going 3-2 in pool play, the Fire gained a much-needed day off on Friday to recover from the week’s sweltering heat.

In the championship game, the Fire found themselves trailing a good MBI team 7-1 going into the bottom of the eighth. Scoring eight runs on six hits, the Fire took a 9-7 lead into the ninth. The Fire held on to win the game 9-7, with a game-ending double play.
