Sacramento Royals 4, Mustangs Baseball Club 3

The Royals took the championship game 4-3 over a tough Mustangs Baseball Club. Bob Booth pitched all nine innings shutting down a very good Mustang team. The Royals completed a 6-game sweep scoring 78 runs while allowing 18. All in all, team pitching, offense, and defense was at its best and won the tournament.
Ken Jungsten started and won the first game with Dave Kephart closing. Alan Van Ness started and won the second game with Kephart again closing. Steve Pepi started and completed the third game. Kephart started the quarter-final with Jungsten closing. Taylor Welz started and completed the semi-final 10-3 win and then Booth shut down the Mustangs in the championship game with a three up three down ninth inning.
Dave Everingham and Booth hit home runs during pool play, and along with Bob Brown hit .600 for the tournament. Steve Pepi finished at .588.
The Royals scored 15 plus runs in each of the first four games. Every player hit above average and also included Darryll Foster, Phil Adams, Mark Weathers, Pep Hurtado, Tom Arquijo, and Johnny Lane.
Scottie “Doughnut” Reeves caught every inning of every game, did an outstanding job handling the pitchers and was chosen team MVP.
