The Boston Wolfpack won the 55+ National Division of the 2022 MSBL World Series going 6-0 in the round-robin and then defeating both of last year’s finalists, the FD 21 Bombers and Team Victory, in the playoffs. The Pack offense was led by Dean Borrelli and Eddie Fuller and MVP Mike Noto, getting two clutch walk-off singles including one in the 10th inning of the Championship game.
In the final against Team Victory, Boston took a 2-0 lead with a run in the first and one in the fifth. Barry Foster keep Victory off the board until they pushed one run across in the eighth. Mark Whiten relieved Foster after he gave up the tying run in the ninth to stop any more scoring. The Pack had two on in their half of the ninth but didn’t score so the game went into extra innings tied 2-2.
In the 10th, Team Victory rallied with two outs on a base hit by Ken Henry and a long double to right center by Oscar Duran, to take a 3-2 lead. But the Pack quickly got off the mat and after a leadoff single and two walks, Noto slashed the clutch base hit up the middle scoring the tying and winning runs for a 4-3 win.
The Pack dedicated the win to their lefty, Rodney Tafoya, who is making great strides in recovering from a massive stroke he incurred last February.
