‘Mijares K’s 18, Shuts Out Suela in Final’

The Delray Nationals shut out Suela South Dade 4-0 in the championship game of the 2022 Holiday Classic 30+ National Division. The Nationals came out of pool play a #1 seed with a team batting average of .486. They beat the Orlando Lugnuts 9-5 in the semi-finals and cruised to a shutout victory in the final versus Suela.

The Nationals were led by starting pitcher and tournament MVP Jose Mijares. Mijares threw a complete game 2-hit shutout striking out 18 in the championship game.

Brett Fick led the nationals in hitting with an average of .502, including two home runs and four doubles in the tournament.  Alberto Carbonel had two hits and two RBI in the final.  Geraldo Avila also had a clutch 2-out RBI single in the first inning to put the Nationals on top for good.
