‘Fritch throws Complete Game Championship Shutout’

Submitted by Frank Hanford, Bandit’s manager

One week following winning an MSBL 70+ Division World Series Championship, the Minnesota Bandits captured the championship in the 65+ Central Division as well.

After leaving twenty-seven men on base in losing their first two games, the Bandits won six straight to secure MSBL’s 65+ title.  Gary Fritch pitched his third complete game of the week, shutting out the Chicago Fire in the championship game.  Gary faced only 29 men in nine innings, giving up five hits and a walk.  The Bandit’s defense turned four double plays, thirteen total for the week.

Wayne Nicholson at the bottom of the order and Chuck Sendlebach and Lee Backhaus at the top, had seven hits between them to ignite the offense in the championship game.  Brock Kiecker pitched a seventy-seven pitch two-hit shutout to beat Berry’s in the semi-final.  Bandit’s pitchers gave up only eleven earned runs the final six games.
