2021 50+ Desert
Connecticut Navigators 8, NSEW Connection 4
‘Timmes Leads the Way at the Plate and on the Bump’
This is the first championship of the Connecticut Navigators, as they won the ring in the 50+ Desert division of the 2021 MSBL World Series with an 8-4 victory over NSEW Connection. They started coming to Arizona in 1994 in the 28+ central and over the years have made it as high as the semi-finals but the title has always eluded them.
This was especially sweet for manager Greg Schienda, Michael Dimino, and Jon Beady. They left the field in 2020 as the 60+ cactus champions and finished week one of the 2021 series as champions. Rookie and series MVP Brian Timmes led the team to victory batting .750 and achieving three wins pitching. Brian pitched two complete games with a 2.29 ERA.
Jon Sanzo had 10 RBIs and scored 11 runs on the week. Michael Dimino, Jon Beady, and Jorge Torres all hit .500 or better. Also, Matt Ryan went 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA throwing 15 innings. It was a team effort with everyone contributing throughout the series and the team is looking forward to returning next year to defend their title!
