‘Torcivia Takes Bite Out of Bulldogs’
Submitted by Jim Tapper, North County Sharks manager
The North County Sharks played the L.A Bulldogs for the mountain division crown in the 45+ championship game of the 2017 MSBL Desert Classic in Palm Springs.
The Sharks scored five runs in the first inning, which is more runs scored than in all of our tournament pool play, and we were able to coast to a 12-0 victory over a very good L.A. Bulldogs squad.
Pitcher Phil Torcivia threw eight solid innings of 2-hit baseball while seven of those innings were no-hit ball. The offensive produced a solid effort for the Sharks as Roger Packard and Ken Callaway tallied three hits apiece. Brandon Bogges, Jim Tapper and Mike Cole went 2-4 each to follow closely behind. Everyone on the Sharks had at least one hit apiece to top off a total team effort at the plate. The Sharks only allowed nine runs all tournament and had great pitching from Bill McFaggin and Joe Flores.
