By Steve LaMontia, MSBL Director of Communications
Lefty pitcher Rod Tafoya of the New Mexico MSBL is one of the three 2014 MSBL National Hall of Fame recipients as selected by MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler. Rod’s MSBL career started in 1994 in Eugene, Oregon. The banking profession took him to New Mexico where he currently resides. To say that Rod is a dominant pitcher and worthy recipient of this award is an understatement. He is only 50 years of age and possesses 305 MSBL career victories from the mound in his combined career of league play and continual tournament action and is 12-0 in Albuquerque so far this year.
More importantly, however, is Rod’s approach to the game and to life. “Any milestone, no matter its size, is achievable,” starts Tafoya. “All you have to do is believe in yourself, have faith, passion, and work ethic.Your love for what you do will take you where you need to go. The happiness it brings you will fulfill your life and make all your dreams come true.”
Rod has been to the MSBL World Series a remarkable 24 times, starting with the Portland Twins in 1996, and has won nine rings. More remarkable is that he has appeared in an amazing 24 title games, playing with various teams in various weeks. This year he will be chucking for Clint Romero’s Stanislaus 35 and over Indians in the first week of the MSBL World Series and then shifting gears to the Fall Classic in Florida in November to play with the 35 and over Atlanta Bulls. Rod’s dance card is always pretty full!

By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications
Randall Guard is a 58 year old baseball iron man who started his MSBL career in 1991 in Houston and is now the president of the Central Arkansas MSBL, while residing in Little Rock. He is also one of the three new members of the 2014 class of the MSBL National Hall of Fame, as designated by MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler.
Randall took over at the helm as president of the CAMSBL in 2009 and is still in there swinging. “We were down to four teams in 2009 and the league was looking for new leadership so I said ‘what the heck,” said Guard. “We now boast eight teams and another one is expected to join next year.I am hoping that this award will also help in getting the word out there about what a solid league we are.” For those of you keeping score at home, that is a 100% increase of teams in only five years.
MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler commented, “It certainly was my pleasure and honor to induct Randall Guard into the MSBL National Hall of Fame. I know him as a dedicated, caring person who gives of himself on all accounts. There are so many players in his area who clearly recognize the difference he has made in the league and accordingly in their lives.”
