Find a League In Your Area

There is a powerhouse team taking
hold in one of the newer divisions of the Redwood Empire Baseball League located in Sonoma County in California. Their ‘Legends’ division is comprised of 65 and over warriors on the Jazz, Seals, Blues and Vets. REBL also boats
25+, 35+, 45+ and 55+ divisions so the progression is beautifully in place. This
writing, however, focuses on the Jazz in the 65+ group.
The Jazz are currently sitting atop
the league with a perfect 8-0 record and have compiled an amazing 188-20 run
differential. Two of their most notable
stars are Paul Johnson and Bill Delaney. Delaney is a 6’ 6” third baseman who is currently batting a cool .590
while Johnson put a stunning day together last week going 4 for 5 with seven
RBI and four runs scored. His average
stands just a tad above Delaney at .600.
Last week’s MSBL Player of the Week and teammate, Mark Yanuskiewicz, leads the team at .719 while manager Ralph
Leef is a team second best at .706. Their team average stands at a freakish .540!
Pitcher Frank Milian is undefeated at
3-0, as is David ‘Doc’ Charp, while Frank’s ERA is a bizarre 0.60. The team ERA is only 1.80. Al Surges and Dick Giberti round out the
pitching staff at 1-0 apiece.
The Jazz seems to be on a roll as
they work to defend their 2016 championship. I wouldn’t want to bet against these guys. Many of them are also veterans of the MSBL
World Series in Arizona in October so the pedigree runs deep. We’ll keep you posted!
