Rick Park and Mike Jennings Inducted into MSBL World Series Hall of Fame

By Steve LaMontia, Director of Communications

Rick Park and Mike Jennings are the newest members of the 2016 class of the MSBL World Series Hall of Fame.  You can find out a little bit more about Rick and Mike by reading below.

Mike Jennings

Mike Jennings was reminiscing while looking through his MSBL World Series patches recently, which go back to his first year in 1995 when he put a team together with his buddy Steve Tolley. It was an 18 and over aluminum bat team as part of the Central Coast MABL from San Luis Obispo in California, which he had recently formed and ran in addition to the MSBL portion of the league.  For his passion and lengthy resume at the MSBL World Series he has been inducted by MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler into the 2016 class of the MSBL World Series Hall of Fame.

"The biggest challenge to participating in tournaments of this magnitude is what makes it the most fun; the preparation,” explained Jennings. "You have to be in good enough condition to survive one or more weeks of quality baseball and we have to be able to convince our boys to go with us, year after year.  Being recognized for our hard work is very gratifying.”

Mike is the league president of the Central Coast MSBL/MABL and his league philosophy mirrors the national tournament ideals.  "I base our league strategy on the MSBL tournament philosophy. We supply quality baseball, played on the best fields, with the best umpires and allow every level of player the opportunity to play.” Jennings continued, "As we attracted and recruited better players over the years the fun really began. By blending our players with great fields and the weather in Arizona, it has always been special. We love playing against teams from anywhere and everywhere throughout the country.  It has supplied many great memories and friendships.  Thank you!”

Rick Park

Rick Park plays for the Puget Sound Mariners in the 60-over Cactus division.  He is a very humble guy who doesn’t like talking about himself. Rick is all about the team.  Rick has also recently been inducted into the 2016 class of the MSBL World Series Hall of Fame, as determined by MSBL Founder and President Steve Sigler.  However, there is one point he made that is quite impressive.

"I haven’t lost a game pitching here at the World Series in about five years.”  Wow.

The Puget Sound Mariners are comprised of players from all around the country. They consist of players from Seattle, Atlanta, Memphis and Tyler, Texas.  That is quite a cross-section!

"I've been playing baseball since I was eight years old when my mom started playing catch with me,” said Park.  "I am commissioner of the 55+ Everest division in Seattle, which is the Puget Sound Senior Baseball League.  We've won the championship three out of first five years of this division. I've been playing and managing teams in the MSBL World Series for many years and I feel Steve Sigler has done all baseball lovers a huge service by giving us an opportunity to play real baseball even at an old age.”
