In the 2020 summer of Covid 19 the Chicago Central Northstars prevailed over the Islanders winning the 2020 Championship in a two-game sweep. It was a heck of a season with two players having the virus, one early and one late. Thankfully, both recovered well which is the biggest story of the year.

The Northstars, and the other 60’s Central teams, also played cross-over games with the Chicago North MSBL, going 5-1. The Northstars went a combined 16-3 including 3-0 in the Playoffs.

The Chicago Central finals was a well-played series against our best rival, the Aurora Islanders. The Islanders appeared to have won game one, only to see an impressive rally by the Northstars who prevailed 9 to 8 after a last inning walk off hit by Ray SchmidtNick Kulkulski and Tod Moorhead pitched for the Northstars.

In game two, the Northstars dominated with great pitching, defense and timely hitting, winning 7-1. Bobby Buffa went the distance on the mound, surrendering only seven hits and no walks. The infield of Nick Kukulski, Tom Foote, Tod Moorhead, Larry Burger and Todd Tallman behind the plate dominated. Hats off to the 2019 Champion Aurora Islanders and their starter Jack Pohlmeier who played their usual steady and strong game.

But now, the traveling ‘60s Central Trophy Cup’ is to be enjoyed for at least a year along with their traveling BBQ Grill by the Northstars. It’s not just good baseball for the Northstars-Chicago’s Premier 60s Baseball Team. It’s a baseball experience with good baseball friends. SKOL!
